Documentaries on Céline Dion and Elton John are officially in the running for the so-called British Oscars, the BAFTAS.

Both Elton John: Never Too Late and I Am: Céline have made the longlist for the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards, handed out by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. They're among the 10 movies that made the list, out of 71 movies that were submitted.

The final list of nominees will be announced Jan. 15, with the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony happening Feb. 16 at London's Royal Festival Hall, hosted by Dr. Who star David Tennant.

Elton John: Never Too Late premiered in December on Disney+. It features never-before-seen footage of Elton's career and of his life today as a husband and father. I Am: Celine Dion, which focuses on the singer's life following her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis, started streaming on Prime Video in June 2024.

Neither film made the Oscars short list for best documentary, but the song Elton co-wrote for his movie, which is also called “Never Too Late,” is on the short list for best original song.
The Oscar nominations will be revealed Jan. 17.
