More Trains Are Coming To South Florida

A Brightline passenger train passes by on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, in Oakland Park, Fla. After Richard Branson announced his Virgin Group would partner with Brightline, Florida's new higher-speed passenger rail service, a train whisked the British billionaire, VIPs and journalists from Miami to West Palm Beach in just over an hour and then back, with no problems. As someone who takes the tri-rail every once in a while, I co-sign this as a great idea. Miami and Fort Lauderdale are huge cities and more public transportation will only improve it. Oh, and less traffic.

Miami-Dade County has promised to prioritize transit funding to expand Metrorail and Tri-Rail services in 2025. The Miami-Dade primary election asked voters what they needed from Miami-Dade County transit, and a whopping 80% said they wanted more options. In response, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced a proposal that will fully fund transit reserves.

Take a look at the tentative plans for expansion HERE.
