Are your friends always trying some fad diets that may or may not (usually the latter) work? Looking to not only shed some pounds, but get HEALTHIER too in the New Year? That should be the goal after all, right?
U.S. News & World Report just released their healthiest diets to try this year. Low-and-behold, the same one sits at the top of the list for the eighth year running. Can you name it?
Here are their five healthiest diets!
1. The Mediterranean Diet: Easy on the sweets, processed foods and red meat, while eating lots of fruits, veggies, grains, nuts and healthy fats like chicken and fish. Extra virgin olive oil is a big part of this diet!
2. The DASH Diet: To help lower blood pressure. “DASH” stands for “Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension.”
3. The Flexitarian Diet: A diet where you’re mostly a vegetarian, but sometimes eat meat.
4. The MIND Diet: A mash-up of Mediterranean and DASH, with a focus on brain health.
5. The Mayo Clinic Diet: A three-month program for weight loss. Balanced meals with smaller portions, just don’t eat while watching TV!
