Who has South Florida’s BEST Hot Dog? 🌭 Happy National Hot Dog Day!

Several delicious options to check out

Does the perfect Summer food exist? After ice cream, it’s gotta be a HOT DOG right off the grill! We all do them differently… some prefer to top them with mustard and relish, others chili & onions and still others, just some ketchup and they’re satisfied.

South Florida has a number of hot dog joints specializing in simple to grandiose, and here’s a sampling of a few of them!

MIAMI-DADE:

Arbetter’s Hot Dogs 8747 SW 40th St., Miami, FL 33165

Gotta start our list with an institution 63 years in the making! Arbetter’s serves up, quite possibly, the best chili dog in the city, a recipe from owner Dave Arbetter’s Italian-born mother, that’s topped with cheese and also sold by the bowl!

Dogma Grill 7030 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33138

I’ve stopped into this Biscayne hangout a few times while waiting for my car to be washed and detailed next door. Try the Jersey Dog, packed with grilled onions, sweet peppers and potatoes on an Italian roll. Mangia! Mangia!

loanDepot Park 501 Marlins Way, Miami, FL 33125

Does it get any better than a beer & a dog at a ballgame? From classic glizzies at the Top Dog stand in section 4, to Kosher Portable and Kosher dogs in section 2 to all the creative toppings over at Street Dawgz in section 39, you won’t soon go hungry at a Marlins game!

BROWARD:

Hot Diggity Dogs & More 2641 Griffin Rd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

Good old fashioned hot dogs served up since the ‘80s! From a dog-friendly patio to a drive-thru, my go-to dogs include the New York-style with mustard, kraut & red cooked onions and the classic Chicago-style hot dog!

Coney Island Joe’s 6401 Sheridan St., Hollywood, FL 33024

A fun little hot dog stand that’s easy to miss, but unforgettable to the tastebuds! Enjoy no-frills grilled dogs much like the ones you’d find on the iconic Coney Island Boardwalk that Joe’s borrows its name from.

Dairy Belle 312 East Dania Beach Blvd., Dania Beach, FL 33004

So much more than ice cream and poutine! The Greniers have been serving up Quebecois specialties since 1998 in Dania Beach and continue to do so at their new, larger location. Enjoy delights like steamed (”steamies”) and toasted (”toasties”) hot dogs, Michigans and “pogos” (corn dogs to we Americans). Don’t forget, some of the best poutine this side of Montreal too! Just try to save room for the ice cream!

Hot Dog Heaven 101 East Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304

Couldn’t forget this spot! First opened in 1979, it’s been a local go-to for Chicago-style dogs, Polish sausages and sandwiches. You know they’re doing something right when they received the distinction of the first National Historic Vienna Beef Hot Dog Stand!
